The FedEx guy just dropped off a nearly new G&L ASAT Classic in a nice butterscotch finish at my door. I am totally stoked, I traded a Dean V for it. The Dean was generally going un-played and I have been gassing for a Tele or a Lester, so when the opportunity presented itself I took it. The Dean may have been worth a tad more but I am not unpleased with the swap. The ASAT has a nice twang to it; the neck feels really good too this one is sporting a 12” radius Maple neck with matching fingerboard.

Some pictures, or I know, it never happened.

You seriously need to change your avatar - it's very misleading thinking you might actually have good taste in guitars!!

;)

Wow... great guitar. I recently had to sell a few great pieces... and the ONLY one I miss is my white blonde ASAT. When things are better I'll be getting one just like yours.... if after the honeymoon period is over you decide it's not for you... send me a pm. I'm sure you won't be letting it go though... I think you won with the ASAT over the Dean.

Way better guitar than the Dean. G&L guitars are great.

I have a few hours of play time in on the ASAT now, and all I can say is that it certainly inspires a different style of playing. It has a  comfortable feel and a nice country kind of twang. I am sure I will play this more than I played the Dean V just for the sound difference alone.

Always great to see another Tele (or similar)!  :D

What's the neck like on that one?  I've only ever played one G&L, long ago, but I seem to remember the neck being really slender.

I think this is a '52 style neck, a little less meat than my Strat but more than my SG. It is an oil finish on the neck, which is feeling really good. The first oiled neck I every played or owned is the Blackmachine. Th G&L is different but the same as the BM-B6 in that they both have oiled Maple necks, but are each guitar are being used to reach different ends musically. It’s ironic that when I was younger I never appreciated the Telecaster, but now I have a keen appreciation for the design and the music it helped produce throughout the years.
