Anybody any idea where the pickup rings on the bottom RH picture are available from (if at all)? I keep looking for them online but can't find any in parts shops etc, are they custom made? looks like some kind of hardwood maybe mahogany, with a brass top??? Tim?

It's fairly easy to get hold of flat metal rings, but I'm prepared to bet the wooden bits were custom made by the guy who built the guitar for Tim.

I've used www.pickuprings.com and can recommend the quality of John's work.

+1

Although I haven't actually used the rings I bought, because I ended up selling the guitar they were intended for (that happens a lot).

the quality looks really top but I wasn't keen on how they looked on Gibsons, however on the the PRS' they really seemed to set off the guitar's natural vibe.

Yeah, +1 on this, although I really like the custom strat on the gallery page http://www.pickuprings.com/gallery
I think the metal top on the original ad kind of finishes it off more on the les paul than just a fancy grained timber

All the pickup rings that John offers are wood, no metal.

I got a set of Brazilian Rosewood rings for a PRS Artist Pack. They're very nice, replacing the creme plastic ones gives the guitar a totally different vibe.

Pick something that matches the fretboard and you can't go wrong.
