Hello, haven't posted in a while.

Rightys well i'm currently converting my band members to the joys of bare knuckle pick ups (we'l have none of this semor duncan b*llocks) just wondering what bass pick ups are currently on offer, if any, and if you do any of the cool covers and stuff you do for the guitar pick ups.

We currently offer Precision and jazz bass pickups (4 and 5 string) the only covers you can get for bass pickups are black white and cream as they are plastic, not metal like the humbucker covers.
Our bass pickups have a very warm, open tone. Based on the wind Fender used in the 60’s before they moved to smaller wire gauges and their sound went very thin and brittle. Ive found that you can get an enormous range of tones from them just depending on the way you play, whether it be finger style, with a pick or slap.
We have sold a lot to French jazz players who adore them, as do I.

Bass pickup what ifs...

Sounds good you guys supporting the booty-quakers-
-Some what ifs...
-Rickenbacker replacements...?
-I know for a fact that most bassplayers stick with what they got-
-especially if equipped with pickups that are slightly unique to start with...
-Could also be cool to have some mighty musicman style mega-buckers...
-I'm just blowing smoke, but I'd buy 'em...

This may be a dumb question (as I'd be an idiot to think someone hasnt tried it already, its so obvious) but couldnt you get the wax off with boilinb water? Poor the contents of a kettle over the pickup and dry it really well? (in a warmish oven for 20 min, say?)

Or would that mess with the sound? or is the water not hot enough? Or........why not?

Epoxy resin is completely different to wax. It’s what EMG's and the like are filled with. It’s like filling them with concrete, its impossible to get out.

Alas! :( I've got one of those Bartolini's in my Rick 4001 -- pulled it out recently to check and its chock full 'o resin.  Sob!

I haven't felt quite flush enough to buy a new Rick pickup just to get it rewound, though (especially whilst I'm still saving to buy BKPs for my guitar, too!). But the instant BKP puts out its own Rick replacements, I'll flog off a kidney and get some! :)

I doubt we will be doing Rick replacements for quite a while, theres not really much demand for them.

Well, I've got my humbuckers to save for, at least!
