I was thinking about trying something higher wattage like the EVM12Ls on Woogies recommendation but not sure if I'll like them, I think most of the tones I like feature the celestion sound.

The Golds interest me now as well :)

I'll let you know how I get on with them  ;)  You may like the Hot 100s I have in my cab at the minute, I could see you those cheap?

I used to play a Caliber 50+ with an EVM12L back in the days, and I found it too stiff and direct, was much happier with the Black Shadow Celestion I replaced it with, it had more "give" and mids.

I have the ones that are £50, I think thats the anni?

Yep, you've got the Anniversarys.  They are reasonably harsh speakers, tight and bright.  The Heritages are more rounded in my experience.  In a 2x12 I think they sound quite bright, and a 4x12 softens them a bit (as TomW implies).

I'd tempted to try a speaker swap _Tom_, but bear in mind Celestion have just put their prices up  :(

Grrrr you've made me want to try a g12h heritage now, and I'm perfectly happy with the anniversary's I've got

Right - the Golds are in and tested.

Gorgeous.  Thick and creamy like a McDonalds milkshake, but still plenty of clarity.  Very, very similar to the Blue so if you like their tone you'd love the Golds.  Celestion have really delivered what they promised.  They're like a really nice Greenback with no harsh frequencies at all.  Very impressive.

Can't wait to try them with some volume!!!!!

You going to stop there or are any of your other amps going to get them in. Will be bloody costly for a 4 x12

I'm stopping there.  The Deluxe already has a Blue, and the Deluxe Relic would look odd with a brand new speaker(!).

I'm happy with my 4x12 (V30s and G12H Heritages) as it's only used for DC gigs.  There I need the rock bite of the speakers I already have.

Magic  :D

How do you compare the Gold and Blue? You said it's very close, but what is the difference (even small)?

I can't hear any difference at all so far!  I only played for 30mins or so last night, but they sounded identical to me.
