Powering Pedals :s :s :s
« on: December 18, 2008, 09:11:43 PM »
I bought a sound lab dc powerbank to power my effects. Boss EQ Marshall Vibrotrem etc. I have recently acquired a electro harmonix pedal and i plan on buying another but i dont have the correct leads to run from my powerbank. To convert from normal (boss type connection) to the electro harmonix reversed type (looks like a jack)

Can i buy these cables?would it work with my powerbank?

Or do i need to buy sepereate power adapters and use another socket up on the wall??

Thanks guys.

Aha awesome thanks, however i think this is the one i mean

http://www.johnnyshredfreak.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=10&products_id=38&zenid=c9bc278c4beb7ce3963720f35b240e8e

Is it the right size for new electro harmonix at 3.5mm? Thats the same as headphone jacks isnt it?

Also is 2.1mm negative tip what boss pedals uses? I thought they used positive tip and other pedals used negative tip.

Sorry to be annoying but i am confuuuused and dont want to order loads of wrong cables!!

Cheers Twinfan!

Which E-H pedals are you looking to power?  I didn't think any of the new ones had those old connectors?

I bought one of the connectors in your link above to power a DOD 250 Overdrive, but the pos/neg were the wrong way round so I couldn't use it.  I ended up buying a couple of these instead:

I have an octave multiplexer which is the old silver one. This seems to only fit a 3.5mm jack plug. I have some converters that came with a power adapter i bought a while ago but they have two prongs so only work with that adapter. So i think i need the one i said.

However i just ordered a big muff with wicker.

Here you can see the symbol for power at the top. I dont know what that means though, but it is different from the symbo on my powerbank. Not sure if its the same as my multiplexer or different like the ones you said.

Edit: http://www.ehx.com/products/big-muff-pi-with-tone-wicker/instructions

Here it says you 9v Dc power supply at 50Ma bt is centre negative. Is that the plugs you linked twinfan?

Thanks for your help.

The new Big Muff will use a stock Boss-type power supply.  It's the same symbol as written on the Metal Muff, and I have one of those so I know it's just a 'regular' power supply.
