Holy Diver 7s, anyone?
« on: December 25, 2008, 05:44:46 PM »
I have been pondering pickups for a while. The time's coming for me to make a choice of pickup for my forthcoming Blackmachine 7 string and I've been generally wandering round parts of the BKP stable looking for ideas.

What I'm looking for in the bridge is fatness with clarity... My current reference point (after having discarded the idea of Nailbombs - which I don't like quite as much as I should, Painkillers - too tight, Warpigs - not after something quite that hot) is the Cold Sweat 7. I have one in my PRS & it sounds great, and it does everything. However, will the HD7 give me something a tad looser? I can't seem to find clips of one tuned to B.

Neck isn't so much of a problem, and will either match the bridge or be a Cold Sweat, because there isn't a 7 string version of the Mississippi Queen!  :(

Merry xmas and if anyone can help me with an idea of the HD I'd be grateful!

maybe you can ask for alnico 8 for more tightness?
I swapped the magnet in mine cause in my SG it didn't sound as tight, bright and loud as it sounded in my les paul copy
now it does  :D

Eric... I'm not really after something too tight, which is why although I like the CS something like the HD may work better (but I haven't heard any clips for it)!

Guitar will be pretty tight, my amp's not what you'd call loose (Diezel Einstein), so am looking for something to fill the sound out a bit. NB is an option but I don't quite like it's voicing as much as I hoped. ;)
