got one of these for christmas (had to pay for most of it myself..) anyway, thats almost the end of my GAS list for a long time.
its good, this pedal.. just tried it for an hour straight into my desk. i love the zero latency of this thing. it sounds convincingly like a miced amp - a bit 1 dimensional, but a nice reverb should help that.
if you turn up the level control its starts to become fizzy like the GT2, however this is no issue at sensible volume outputs
EQ controls are incredibly powerful, you just need a little touch from center positions. bit too sensitive in fact.
the character control goes from unusably dark, till at around 11 o'clock it starts to sound usable, a bit like a bluesbreaker(?) or some other dark marshall. at 12 o'clock it does a decent plexi. and from then to the finish it goes more and more into the 80s modded territory. it never really does a 2203/4 though, which is disappointing, but fine. i like putting it at 1 o'clock for a sort of modded plexi sound, which i thing sounds great.
gain control gives a sensible range of gains. on my gt2, i don't feel the gain went low enough, but its fine here. clean and very light crunch is fine.
comes in a nice 'feel good' presentation metal box - it will be ideal to take to gigs. i like the aged brass stomp button.
tried it with a cold sweat loaded maple neck through steinberger. you can absolutely nail a george lynch tone without much work. i also got a nice ac-dcish crunch.
it does clean up if you roll down your guitars volume, but not as well as a tube amp for sure, but better than a GT2. the GT2 disguised alot the character of the guitars you put into it. this pedal is better in that regard - but again its not as good as a tube amp.
on the other hand this pedal is a lot smaller and convenient to record and gig with. i'm going to use it live from now on.
its a nice update to sansamp's analog modelling technology.. it has flaws, but it is great improvement over my gt2. sure my gt2 may not be in full health any longer.
