They're called "Road Worn" and if they look anything as good as on those pictures, and if the play and sound somewhat close to as good, they're a steal!

personally, i'd rather not waste money on relicing on a mid-price guitar, i'd rather have more money going towards the spec. that's just me, though, and i should add that i'm not a fan of relicing in general, even on high-end guitars... :lol:

I've seen these before. Fender are total tools. Boring old colours that are a little scr@ped up. Total waste of potential. They have some amazing colour schemes AND guitar designs out there but still pump out the same strat and tele designs in piss poor colours. What a pile of wank.

They look OK, but a bit phoney.  If I was ever to spring for a relic I'd rather have a really good one - and that means big bucks unfortunately.

There's a lot of discussion of these on the TDPRI forum - almost sparking another "relic/no-relic" war :lol:

The general consensus is that the "wear" on the maple fretboards is somewhat @rse... I think I kinda agree, based on the pics I've seen. Having said that - I had the same issues with the relics I've seen in V&R.

Apparently, yes, they're MIMs, and the rumoured prices are causing some worries that MIMs are about to go up in price, leaving space at the bottom for the CV Squiers.

There is also rumour that the Mexican plant has just started using Nitro finishes to enable this "road-wear". [so-what]Umm... [/so-what]  (I've got nitro finished guitars and thick poly jobs - yeah, they're different, but not enough for me to join either camp :D)

There's a lot of debate that this range is going to "stuff" relic makers like Nash etc because you'll be able to get real Fenders relic'd for about the half the cost of Fender CS, seriously undercutting the relic builders who build from allparts etc... QUESTION: This was news to me, do relic makers like that (eg McGuire) build their stuff from parts they buy in?? (Perhaps I was being a bit naive in thinking they built necks/bodies from scratch??!)

Anyway, as far as I can make out it's all "internet facts" at the moment :lol:

If I see one, and I think it's cute, and if it seems to be worth the price-tag to me personally, then my wallet might be in danger, otherwise... :roll:

i think Nash and McGuire are buying them in and relicing them wheras bravewood are scratchbuilt.   Relicing to me is an artform thats usually completely seperate to guitar building, so i dont really have a problem with relicers buying in parts (nothing wrong with allparts stuff), but it does make it all the more impressive that bravewood manages to do it all on his lonesome, and does it so well!

That's kind of exactly how I was thinking when I realised it Wez - seems to make sense to me. I don't have any real problems with relics, I just haven't seen one that's for me (yet?) at a price I consider reasonable for me!

However, this piece of knowledge has made me think "I could do that... :roll:" though! (this is really only based on the McGuires, those are the only ones I've actually handled, and it starts to make £1300 look a bit expensive, for my pocket anyway, for what they are :lol:)

EDIT: Just realised I've fallen into the trap I don't like others falling into - McGuires at £1300 are too rich for what I'm prepared to pay and am then getting for that money. But I DO believe that the for the parts and the effort going into them, they are worth that much if it's what someone wants!

Later this year Fender will release the ultimate relic guitar. The price will be around $12,000.-



Gibson will offer an SG with a broken headstock glued back on for an additional $1,000.-

i like relic guitars and these arent too bad considering the price. Peach guitars have all of them for @£750 each. Not bad.

The wear marks on the maple necks are a bit light. old guitars generaly have darker muddy effect wear marks on the neck. these look very pale and just rubbed down a bit, but you can spend 1000's on a relic and still get naff wear marks, but everyone likes different types of "relic" effects.

Looking forward to seeing how good these are.
