Hi ( and welcome to the forum ! ) . :)
I have set in a cheap Tanglewood 335 copy - and they are my favourite pickups. They did spend a little time in my '76 S.G. Standard, but as great as they were in the S.G. - it is not getting used as my 'Number 1' guitar.
The Missisipi Queens therefore went back into the 335 copy. In this ( basswood ply body & mahogany neck ) semi- they realy helped to lift the clarity and articulation of the bass response ( Basswood is great for fat mids and sweet highs, but the bass strings can sound a bit 'soft' ). With M.Qs, there is a gorgeous balance of sweet fatness, but with a nice glassy 'edge' if you want to dig in a bit. For me they are a real favourite, but be aware that to a certain degree, the bridge and neck contrast each other, instead of them being night and day. I suppose this is in part the centralised positioning of the polepeices - and the fact that Tim has ( in a stroke of genius ) - created a lovely balance by putting Alnico V magnet in the bridge - and AIV in the neck.
To me, this contrast is pure class, just a little more ( or less ) bite and treble around your basic sound. I have quite a gentle touch however, and like a low action - so bear in mind that these beauties can get a lot nastier than I use them. This was of course more evident in my solid bodied S.G. - where they really find a good solid sonic foundation from which to project from.
I love all my B.K.P - but if I had to choose the most unique set that I own, it would be the M.Qs - hence them always ending up in my most played guitar.
Whatever you decide - I hope you enjoy your time here ! :)
