New Hayden Amps site
« on: January 08, 2009, 05:05:59 PM »
http://www.haydenamps.com/

Just in case anybody is interested there are new Hayden amps and a new site.

My initial thoughts were some of the models look like Matamps but are more expensive, I presume there is a connection?

Nice site though.....

Chuffed I got my Essex Blonde coloured one, just as they were changing, dirt cheap.

The black tolex does look great though.
I too use chicken as a measurement.

they look quite nice, the 5 watter sounds quite cool :)

no dealers here unfortunately, and no prices on the website either... :(

EDIT: found prices on dolphin, about what i expected... could be worse for handwired, but not cheap either. :)

This is how a website should look. It really makes a difference in your inpression of a company. It also has decent sound clips which are very rare for websites.

I really like the sounds of the 7/15 combo.

The prices are cheaper then cornford and slightly more the blackstar. Not sure about the look of the amp with gold writing. The small ones dont have a loop even the 7/15, but they sound very good!! It would be interesting to try one.

The chassis looks identical to modern Matamps, from the wiring, to the transformer and valve layout. And they're specced, with a few tweaks/2 channel designs, exactly like Matamps. And they even sound like Matamps! The website's a bit of a step up from the Matamp one though... definitely agree it looks pretty good.

I was so tempted, but in the end didn't.... mainly because I couldn't find anywhere to try one out and got cold feet about just risking it!
I also prefer the cream looks, and that 4x12 might be worth a buy, despite not having a fitting head at the moment!

I remember a guy called Hayden working at Matamp a couple/few years back and when I saw these amps I immediately got the connection.  The ex-chief-engineer at Matamp (Dave Green) now works for Hayden amps as well.  Coincidence?

Yes.  :)    Hayden M. still works at Matamp, as well as running Bulldog pickups, and used to work for BKP.
There's no connection between him and Hayden amps, who are owned by Ashdown.
