Doesn't seem that great. Sounds like a rip off to me.

Yup it's Fender & Eddie who hold the production rights but Duncan did the original prototypes and production but were legally bound to never put the pickup into production...

I bet its REVOLUTIONARY and CRASH TESTED and WHAT HE USES and... ohh f**k it Eddie will be pimpin' it with in Guitar World any day now so if you want to read that shitee head to the newsagent..

Here's an idea Eddie... Why not make some frikin' new music?

Oh yeah... Sammie and Mike are doing that and they're losers...

Duncan makes these pickups. The pickups in his new Wolfgang are Fender made.

No offense please, but why was this moved in "Guitars, Amps and Effects?" this is about "Pickups", right?

I could be wrong, but I've always assumed that "pickups" meant "BKP", or at least had an element of BKPishness.

I can't speak for this new pickup as I haven't tried it but I do have one of the Charvel EVH guitars that were made for a couple years (the yellow and black striped guitar was the first guitar I lusted after as a child and I wasn't going to pass up the opportunity to live out my 12 year old fantasies).  That Charvel is the only guitar I've owned in twenty years of playing that I wouldn't consider changing a thing on: the neck is perfect, the set-up is perfect and the pick-up, whoever made it, is perfect.  I know Eddie does like to stick his name and stripes on everything and charge a premium for it but the only item I've actually bought and used a lot myself I found to be exactly as I would want it, and actually not that over-priced though that had a lot to do with exchange rate in those days.

You can still order the EVH as a production CS pickup from Duncan.

The EVH is NOTHING like this new Eddie pickup. Different windings, magnet. Nothing alike.

Indeed SD is making those new pickups but aren't selling them. Hence the higher markup than for a CS Duncan pickup.

I stand corrected. Thanks for the clarification!

No worries :)

The new Eddie pup is in fact closer to the Duncan Custom Custom I think... don't take my word for it though, but by specs it does. But it's a new design.
