Fuzz or Overdrive/Distortion?
« on: January 15, 2009, 01:09:26 PM »
I bought a Big Muff w/Pi. And I really like it. But I am a little bit confused because it doesnt respond in the way I expected.

What I mean buy that is It doesnt have an attack like a distortion sound but it is more like a fuzz on top of the clean sound. I really like the huge fuzzy sound but I would like it to respond more like a distortion.

So I've been looking at many Overdrive/Distortion pedals but none of them are catching my ear. But Electro Harmonix also have the "Metal Muff" series, and they are designed for metal. Is this what im after? Will it chugg like proper distortion or is it still like a fuzz pedal?

It chugs like a distortion.  Think Sabbath/Ozzy in a box.

I've got a Metal Muff with Top Boost that I'll sell if you're interested?

This is why I don't buy pedals.

Haha fair enough, but im certainly not disapointed with the big muff. It has opened up a new dynamic to my playing even though it wasn't initialy what i wanted.
