GAS part 1 - November
« on: January 17, 2009, 12:37:00 PM »
My wife must love me.......constantly bringing guitars into the house, breathing new life into them, only to have a change of heart and flog them on for something new and shiny!  This is the result of selling my Orville By Gibson last year.

The bloke selling it did have it on eBay but he wanted more than people were obviously willing to pay, and his pictures of it certainly did the guitar absolutely no favours.  After a good bit of haggling I managed to get him down to a more than reasonable price (so damn reasonable he's e-mailed me loads since, trying to get more money out of me, because he realises he let it go for a song!) and went down to Slough to pick her up.

She's a 2004 Limited Edition 68 Custom Flametop, complete with 57 Classics (the only Gibson pickups worth keeping in my opinion), a nice fat neck, and a 10lb exactly weight to her.
Was happy with that purchase! :D

Wow, ignoring the weight, that's a beauty!  :o

Sounds a bit weird that he's trying to get more money out of you.  I've let things go stupidly cheap before, and kicked myself afterwards.  But that's my fault, I wouldn't go hounding the buyer... does he know where you live?
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM

Weight isn't an issue for me!
I'm 6'5", well built and have that sublime 14.5lb Legra Les Paul Doubleneck if I really want something weighty slung around my neck! :P

To be fair to the guy he hasn't e-mailed me now for about 3 weeks so I guess he's  given up, but it's his own fault.  I guess he was struggling with his own c--k-up!

It's got lovely tone though, which is why I brought it in the first place.  A lot of the Customs do have a habit of sounding a bit muddy in my experience so it was nice to finally find one that is crystal clear in its tone.

Looks pretty too, which always helps when trying to get things past her-who-must-be-obeyed! :D
