the school is quite busy actually, i cant believe the number of students dressed so inappropriatly

everyone is talking about  being sent home but a lot come on buses so its unlikely.  we do have a 2 hour meeting after school that we are all hoping is cancelled

99 - We are all wusses over here.  Back in Sweden my dad had to ski to work (if it was too deep to take the moped).

I woke up this morning and thought "Think I'll work from home today"  <----- read "Think I'll stay in bed until the phone rings".

After the boss phoned and I had to turn on the laptop, I realised that I was supposed to be in Nottingham five minutes ago.   :(  Think I'll stay here with some decent tea instead.
Advice worth what you just paid for it.

I had to leave my car at work last night and get the train and walk home, and it hasn't stopped snowing since then... don't think i'm going anywhere for a couple of days. Does make everything look very nice though :)

Haha, yes. When I was at school if it snowed it meant having to walk for an hour across fields to get there rather than gettting the busses. The g**ts used to keep school open anyway just in case anyone turned up ...

Would be quite fun to ski across London today, definitely possible if you have a pair of Nordics (snowboards, pah!) - you'd probably be the fastest thing on the streets too :P

buggers!!!

I put it off as long as possible but am now in work and sitting at my desk :(

nothing more depressing than a school thats open on a snow day

Is there many people there?

More importantly, is our children learning?

I had already taken today and tomorrow off on holiday because we're off skiing with mates for a week (yay!), so I thought, what the hell, might as well make a 2 week break of it and have some gaming/playing/DIY time too. :)

I would NOT want to get from Oxford to London or Sutton today for sure!! It's bad enough on a 'normal' Monday morning!!

Lots of pressure with a bit of tissue did the trick, no need for your fancy styptic pencils here :P

For the record, us Brits tend to feel the same way about sunshine as you do about snow ;)

PS we get snow so rarely as well, that it's usually a real treat!

try to work at 40°C, you'll see the hell it is...

I'm not good at being cooked alive, so I like cold

(think I will got the same answer about 0°C, but I felt very ok when I was there... about 5°C london and less than it on Amsterdam)

It's true that it's easier to work in the cold - there are always more layers, right? I remember one heat wave when the temp in our office got to 41. Naturally, we then weren't in it, the pub over the road had air con :D God Bless Academia! Those days are gone now, though ;)

Yes, 40°C is good at the beach, layed down like a lizard heating, drinking damn-cold beers

When I was on holiday in Egypt it was 42 degrees with a slight breeze at 9pm, it was perfect.
Now I'm in England hoping and praying for summer to come early.
