Playing Fast with a TOM

Does anyone else have issues playing fast over a TOM style bridge?

I don't mean hammer ons etc - fast "trick" playing - I mean the really scalar fast, legato style playing.

I can get a half decent turn of speed on a lower profile bridge, but then I've been playing those for the last 20 years or so...  Recently started to use a TOM bridge, and it feels really unnatural.

I guess that it doesn't slow John Sykes down any...

I have a flying V and a super strat with floyd rose. I switch between the two quite often. I notice a slight difference but not so much that it hinders me. I notice I can sweep pick a little cleaner with a TOM than a floyd, odd.

Depends on the T-O-M or variant. I don't get on the best with pointy Gibson ones, but anything rounded off a little doesn't really bother me.

Pull it off and stick on a wraparound. You knows it makes sense.

It certainly takes me a few minutes to adjust, I'm definitely more at home on Gotoh-style hardtail bridges.
I find it nearly impossible to play Les Pauls - the combination of the bridge and neck angle throws me off completely.

I wouldn't be the biggest fan of the 'Paul either. A lifetime of Fenders etc. just leaves them feeling "wrong" to me.

Sometimes you come on one that just sits "right", though, and then you see what everyone's talking about.

I think that for me I usually have my hamd palm muting on Strat bridges most of the time - I struggle to to that on a TOM, it's just so high. 

Or maybe I'm just a wuss.
