I'm not sure how I feel about that one.  It's a lot more enjoyable to listen to (IMO), but that kind of red-hot country pickin' definitely contains an element of "look at me, look how fast I can play".   So in that sense, it is w**kery. 

I do think country players usually sound like more musical - there's a bassline or some kind of rhythm, and a melody over the top.  It's music that can be played with other people.... bedroom-rock-shred is much more of a stand-alone thing.  But I'm generalising.

Well for sure the guy can play and he can play faster than I can and faster than I'd ever want to.Good luck to him though-he has worked at it and I respect him for that but I don't enjoy listening to it and I just go for that off button?  I loved the picture though-that is class. The wallpaper sets it off in context beautifully. I see the wallpaper as a representation of what his music means to me.

Got to admit, I have a lot of respect for the time and dedication that guy must have put in to be able to play like that. I'll also happily admit that I'd love to have that kind of scale/mode/fretboard knowledge, and that kind of precision. However, being able to play that fast and widdly has never been a goal of mine (and I like some shred playing!)  :)

For what it's worth, I think it's cool - purely from a technical point of view, and a slightly jealous point of view - I really CAN'T do that, but a part of me would like to be able to do it.  And show it off at parties.  But never really USE it...  I also think that it's lacking something, be it soul, or whatever.  Taste, maybe - but that comes down to preference. 

Also, I don't think that it's right to say that fast = tasteless.  I've heard Yngwie play with such incredible soul and taste he could put Larry Carlton to shame - and I'd generally rather listed to Larry over Yngwie...

Its quite impressive thats hes been able to train himself to be able to that. Obviously shows that he is quite dedicated to the instrument.

I can't say im jealous at all, i mean, not in a million years will i be able to do that! But its not really my scene.

ok both of those players obviously have a real talent in their respective feilds, tbh neither are really musically engaging to me , not my scene but each obviously are a tonne better than me ... :D (more of a meat n pottatoes kinda guy , outa ability limitations more than choice ;)
with regards to w**kery, yes i feel they both have an element of w**kery to them.....
not even going to comment on shreddy guys profile pic .... ahahhahahahhah ( i really hope that guy wasnt being serious....)

but thats just my oppinion.....
