This is actually quite funny, wait for the 'duet' at the end.

Good stuff.

Vid is fun, but the pedal sounds quite a bit like poo to me

I agree, wasn't impressed at all. The Satriani Vox pedal however sounds tasty. MMMmmmm

I'm glad he's ripping the piss out of himself throughout. For a man that can come across as quite pretentious it's nice to see him able to laugh at himself.

Course, on the other hand there's always that outside chance he's not mocking himself, in which case I probably want to vomit

i think he's taking the piss. to be fair to vai, he's never said he's particularly talented, just that he practised his ass off. Which is pretty modest... i mean even if it's true, he doesn't have to say it, and i can't see how you could get that good with no talent...

I'm not a fan but did enjoy pretty much every minute of that. Not sure I would buy one of those pedals or a JEM though. It's really not my scene!
I think I hate being indecisive.

Vai is very modest. Most people just hear him shred, see the fan that blows his hair back and thinks he's your typical larger-than-life rockstar when in fact nothing is further from the truth. It's just an image.

Very funny, even though the pedal is not my thing.

He clearly is having great fun taking the p1ss out of himself. From that, I like the man !

yes, Vai is modest.. he does have a bit of an ego, but you do have to keep a distance from the usual run of the mill fanboy. when i had that interview with him, it was a LOT of fun and chit chatting afterwards. shame we didnt have more time, cos it was a really small group (3 guys) he'd let us play through his rig.

anyway. i LOVE that demonstration and how he takes the piss out of himself. there was also one, where he explains the stuff he uses on stage and he pointed to the fan and said that is the biggest most important piece of kit that he has on the stage hehe

I really enjoyed this. He's not exactly my cup of tea (and the tones definitely aren't ), but he's a fine musician and this shows he's got a good sense of humour and a really healthy attitude towards hisself and his ego...

And he's not a bad actor neither - ever tried to record a conversation with yourself on a multi-tracker ? It's not as easy as you imagine, takes a lot of "timing", etc...

I thought he did a great job on that. It was funny and it was obvious he was mocking himself. A lot of rock stars 'Get Into Character' for their live shows. Being able to switch that off is what makes them normal people and good actors really.

Mick Jagger is a another example. John Lydon/Johnny Rotten. Ian Anderson from Jethro Tull

Mind you when he was younger I'm sure he wouldn't have done it that way!

That video made me buy the Jemini. But I ended up selling it about a month later. At first I loved it, but after a while, I realised that the distortion channel was either too fuzzy or too thin.

The overdrive channel sounded really fat though.

Not worth the £100+ price tag to be honest.
