Ok my list of music in the spirit of this thread. I'm not embarrassed by any of it and I've always listened to a lots of different music anyway.

10cc, Supertramp, Stevie Wonder, Curtis Mayfield. Any of the 70's popular music as its already been said by other posters. Its pre-computer and made by musicians and that's what makes it so good.
Sister Sledge. Listen to Nile Rogers guitar playing intro on 'Thinking of You' its fantastic and runs throughout the song. The tab is on Ultimate Guitar and is very hard to play!
Boogie Nights by Heatwave! Good call Philly Q! I love that song and everyone did back then. Was that 1976?
I don't mind a bit of ABBA. A covers band called 'Paddy Goes To Holyhead' used to do a brilliant rocked up cover of 'Does Your Mother Know?' a few years back.

I am not embarrassed by any of my favourite bands/musicians. I really couldn't care if someone ridiculed my tastes. I can't give a list here because I love a wide range of music. Maybe some of my mates think bands like Squeeze or Crowded House are lightweight but to me that is their problem. I got laughed at recently because I said I'd downloaded a Glen Campbell album..like I give a sh*t.

I feel no guilt over any of this stuff, but...

I agree with Twinfan and others, Abba - superb stuff (I even like the Mama Mia dvd that the missus forced me to watch :lol:).

I am and always have been a big devotee of The Bee Gees (along with Frank Sinatra, Glen Campbell, Johnny Cash, and so on, their 60s and early 70s stuff was my BIGGEST early musical influence).

Possibly going against popular opinion here, but still no guilt, I also rate Cliff Richard big-time (I agree he's a bit sickly to listen to talking though...).

And I love all things McCartney... (including the Frog Chorus...)

Finally, still no guilt here, I have a certain appreciation for, not sure what you'd call it, it is kinda 60/70s country based ballads. For example:

"Honey" - the Bobby Goldsborough version, still sends the good ole shivers down the spine when I even think of the last verse...
"No Charge" - I can't remember who had the hit, but it was well cheesy, and I loved/hated it all at the same time :lol:
Various Kenny Rogers songs "The Gambler" (love that one), "Lucille" (ditto), "Coward of the County" (I think the songwriter was possibly trying too hard on this one :lol:).
Dean Friedman - must get a CD of some of his stuff
Etc, etc...

I really don't see it as guilty pleasure, if I took any time to learn to play a song I would not feel guilty, but I guess I could drag Build Me Up Buttercup - by Busted & McFly, out of the closet. I use to sing and play that a life time ago.

I was mini-cabbing years ago in the dead of night, listening to XFM when it wasn't too bad. There were a lot of music experts giving lists of their top 5 favorite songs. The Wichita Line Man was on all of their lists, which was a bit of a surprise to all of them, including me!

Yeah, I've only heard it a few times but there's something really powerful about the sound.  But powerful's not the right word... it just gets to you somehow.

(Oh, Boogie Nights was in the charts at the beginning of '77, so yes it must have been recorded in '76.  I used to listen to the Top 40 countdown every week in those days and it seemed to be in the charts forever!)

Yea, Charmless Man sticks out as a song for me; i remember being on holiday in Mexico when i was 11 or 12 (christ, that's a while ago now, only seems like yesterday!), and listening to a Blur cassette on a coach, think i played that song the most because i can't remember what other tracks were on it :p
