There is nothing awesome about power metal. Not ever. Especially not people who sing "May your sword be wet like a young girl in her prime" without even a wink or a smile.

Just because they keep a straight face that doesn't mean they aren't laughing inside   :D :D

Manowar aren't Powermetal, but that's an argument for another thread.

They are by modern parlance.

Johnny Mac is right though, this is the place for talk of them.  Neither is anywhere else, though. Except maybe the changing rooms of a live-action roleplay convention.

Some of the ex-members were probably "laughing inside" when they saw Eric Adams, 58, and Joey DeMaio, 67, standing there naked apart from some stone-age leggings, pleather tanga briefs and a couple of plastic swords.

But I've never seen the slightest bit of evidence that Mr DeMaio, 73, has any sense of humour whatsoever.

Sorry, must stop talking about Manowar.

So back on topic...(No more Manowar its horrific!)

Mudd, Slade, T-Rex, The Sweet.

Pilot..A Double neck Gibson guitarist with a green tank top. A devastating combo!

Sky (who was the guitarist?) Was it Steve Howe?

Remember that one hit wonder from the 80's PHD? "I woooont let yooooo down, let yoooo down agaaain" Didn't like that so not a guilty pleasure, just thought I'd bring it up.

Not sure who else was in Sky Johnny, but wasn't it Mr John Williams the classical chap? (And Herbie Flowers on bass)

You could be right there Andy. He used to sit down and play an electric on Top Of The Pops!

Kevin Peek was the other guitar player - played a Gibson L5S.  And Williams had an RD Artist, I think.

(Why won't my brain contain any useful information, that I could turn into money?  )

They also did "Little Suzi's On The Up", covered by Tesla on their first album.  OK by me!

Not entirely sure if this should be a guilty pleasure as I don't really know about them, but just found something called Bat For Lashes on my hard drive, something my lady put on there so she could transfer to her mp3 player.
It's entrancing! I feel completely intoxicated. Gotta say I love it. Does anyone know of any similar stuff with really ethereal / entrancing vocals that they can recommend?
