I think it looks cool.

Cool enough to justify that price, Ben? :P

Exactly. If we speak 35K$-cool, then I would call THIS cool:

Comeon Jonathan, in that quantity you'd make it a dozen, right?

I'm pretty sure he's been using ESP for a dogs age and I think his Explorers were mostly ESP's as well. My understanding is that Gibson were being pissy about making the guitars, so he went back to ESP and they fixed it up.

For the record that is crazy pennies and the finish rather OTT, it looks a bit like the Jim Henson team were called in. Still it's a japanese made ESP, so I bet it's pretty cool to play. Not that you'd want to, for fear of inciting Mr Hetfeild to pop round to kick your ass for hurting the thing.

I do like the George lynch battered strat mind and a much better price point.

Yes all his past sig explorers/ect were ESP BUT "The Iron Cross" is a Gibson...

Is it only me that can see this?

Look at a photograph, this isn't a case of ghost building for gods sake.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere the Iron Cross (Gibson) Les Paul was one Hetfield customised himself. Presumably he and/or ESP then decided to base the new sig on that, since it's the guitar he's been using the most of late.

Seems a bit odd, but I suppose such things happen in the weird world of guitar endorsements.

Something else I don't get is why with the Hetfield Eclipses they leave the dummy toggle above the fretboard rather than just building the things without one.

I knew I shouldn't have deleted the sentence saying that he used the Gibson for all the St Anger Vids etc. He wanted replica's of the Gibson Iron Cross to tour with, but Gibson wouldn't make them for him hence the 'pissy' part. I was just mentioning that he's always used ESP's as people seemed to think this was a new thing. Mine apologies.

Carry on.

Gibson, presumably, being too busy making some sort of ridicu- sorry, STUNNING and INNOVATIVE 'Inside-out SG', or 'thing Zakk Wylde sneezed onto the back of a napkin' or some such bollocks.

Or, more likely, Gibson wouldn't make it for free. And the millionaire rockstar wasn't gpoing to accept the cheeky idea that he should actually pay for something.

the ebay guy is overchargin. They go for 9000$ street price.

Though the fact that only 50 were made might contribute to inflation.

Isn't Hetfield actually particular about the fact that he should pay for his gear still?

I heard Gibson were making them, but were taking too long so he went to his main guitar brand to do it

I've never heard that, and I was a proper Metallica anorak through my teens. But it might be the case.
