I think it looks cool.

Cool enough to justify that price, Ben? :P

Exactly. If we speak 35K$-cool, then I would call THIS cool:

You could have 10 handbuilt Feline Lions for that.....(goes off to check wood supplies)

Comeon Jonathan, in that quantity you'd make it a dozen, right?
(PMing other forumites for group order...)

This is a collector's guitar and therefore the price is very high. It's obviously NOT a player's guitar.
If you wanted a serious ESP player's guitar (or for studio work) a custom ESP would be cheaper than that.

That said, a guy on the ESP forum made a comparison between a Gibson LP custom and a ESP CTM-1 (black) FT (FT= Full thickness, like the Gibson). Both were loaded with EMGs. Iinterestingly, the clips were extremely similar. The price tags were not.
Of course, it doesn't take into account playability and "c--k" factor (of having Gibson written on the headstock).

That's insane... but hey, if some mug buys it...

It's still just a japanese ESP... i didn't know until recently that the ESP's were made in japan.

Does this not mean that the Edwards guitars are just the same quality? confusing...

I'm in shock! :D 'Just a Japanese ESP' The Japanese make beautiful guitars of amazing quality. Not $35,000 worth admittedly,  but amazing stuff all the same, especially at the custom level. Some of the ESP stuff is a little crazy mind http://www.espguitars.co.jp/gallery/kyomoto/samurai/index.html , check www.espguitars.co.jp also should show the difference in the Grass Roots, LTD,Edwards and ESP guitars. 8)

that, is a problem in itself

no self respecting collector will have a factory damaged ESP in their fold of nearly priceless fenders and gibsons. and no metallica fan has that kind of money to afford it.

Oh they will, trust me on that, just like the KH-20.

If you look at the numbers ESP assigns to different markets you also kind of see where the people live who will buy this guitar - and it's certainly not the UK.

Or we could all chip in and he could build a special BKP Forum guitar with twelve necks.
Advice worth what you just paid for it.

Hmm, but wouldn't that then technically be a mass production guitar?

No - each one would be unique
And could be differing specs - just benefitting from a group purchase price
