Hi all,
Just thought I'd pass on my review and settings for a great AC/DC tone.
Basically, FORGET about getting any decent tone with Gibson pickups. From memory I have tried the Angus Young pickup, the Classic 57's and the standard Gibson pickups. All of these have gone through countless amps, pedals and effects units to try to nail Angus's distinctive tone. No success at all.
HOWEVER.
Clutching at straws I emailed Tim and ordered a Riff Raff (bridge) from here. The fact that I could return the pickup if I wasn't happy with it was really useful.
Well.
As soon as I plugged it into my amp, the difference was amazing. A nice crunchy middle with that patent AC/DC bark that I'd been waiting for!
£100 well spent.
If you have a blackstar HT-5 - a superb 5 Watt monster.
Try this.
ISF at 3 O'clock.
Treble, Middle and Bass at 2 o'clock.
Gain 9 O'clock
Volume 9 O'clock (or as loud as you can get away with)
Behold!
Instant Angus!!!!!!
I'll pop some clips on YouTube when I get time.
