maybe it was the overpowering bass that suggests, that it's a very high output pickup. i played an invader back to back with my warpig (alnico) and the invader had this HUGE wall of bass that drowned everything. it actually made the warpig sound small.. but there was no note definition and the high end is sharp and simply put horrible

the CWP sounds much more agressive, due to the ceramic pickup, but retains much of its original tonality and ... well, try one out.. you will not be dissapointed, i grant you that

Haha a clearcut win for the CWP! :D

Thanks a lot guys, I think this the most decisive and easy pickup choosing thread ever on here haha.

By your descriptions the fake Invader that is in the guitar at the moment (stock stagg pickup... ahem) actually sounds better than the actual Invader

On a different point: does BKP do white bobbins? Not cream but real white? Because I do love the look of the white Invader and Dimarzio x2n 8)

i think the stagg delonge is agathis no?

a double screw pole miracle man might also be an option

Nope, alder. :)

(god that headstock looks bad on pictures, in real life it's not that bad.. I am changing the neck soon though.)

About the MM: I thought so too at first, but what MDV said about it being too smooth makes sense. I don't think it will be raw enough ;) Plus you're too late because my mind is set on the CWP now :D

Yes, you can get open poled pickups in white (I assume that's what a "bobbin" is?).  I have white Nailbombs & they are a "pure" white:

You also get a choice of pole pieces: screws, allens or cap-head allens (not sure if all of them come with all 3 choices of chrome/black/gold).  For a 'pig it's a double row of those, no slug pieces...

@Antag: bobbins are the plastic parts the coils are wound around.
Great! That looks nice in the goldtop, I'm not a Gibson man but I do have a weakness for goldtops :) (and SG-x's ..).

I knew about the polepieces but I had never seen a pure white one, so just checking ;)

White with 12 cap-head allens it is then! :D (both types of allen bolts are only in black afaik).

i *think* i've seen a pickup with chrome allen heads (not the cap ones.. the allen heads that are on a standard pig)  but right now i'm not sure if it was a BKP or not

All Dimarzio and most Seymour Duncan pickups have (if any) chrome allen bolts.

But for bkp's I think there is only a choice of black .. and black. :D

Not true - I have a nailbomb with chrome allen poles (flat ones, not cap head)

this is just an observation... when i think about punk i think about the raw "vintagey" sounds of late 70s... 90s and 2000s punk is something closely related with pop-rock (no offense to anyone, i love pop... :)), so MAYBE a Cpig could be too much in both cases. too tight, too aggressive, too powerful... if i played punk i'd go for a vintage-hot pickup and not for a death metal beast like the cpig, but it's just an opinion.

yes that is a commonly made wrongey :P let me clarify: Punkrock, that would be the more modern stuff like Blink 182 and Sum 41 etc. :)

But this is a sound that falls outside of both catagories, it's all about brute power and punch. A vintage hot pickup would just not cut it.
