removing signature from nitro guitar
« on: March 19, 2009, 04:08:49 PM »
what would be the best way to remove a black marker pen rock star signature from a nitro finished guitar?

try some naptha (zippo lighter fluid) on a bit of cloth, or rebuff it with something like t-cut

no joy with the lighter fluid... what about something stronger like turps?

Get Feline to refinish it and send Mr Winter the bill!

I'm not sure about turps - I wouldn't put it on my Explorer, or at least not on an exposed bit. I have a feeling it would be ok, but I've enough of a nagging doubt. I'm not sure it would do the job either... Acetone is another one I'd be interested in as solvent but scared of putting on nitro.

You need the experts

tried the turps - didn't remove signature, didn't damage the nitro

Germolene?
Preparation H?

(Running out of ideas here...)

So have you bought this beast yet then? (or is the owner trusting you try out various solvents on it )

Try and get a marker that looks very similar, and try and incorporate the signature into a tribal design on the V... should be able to get it to blend it pretty good ;)
