Huge Beck/Hammer influence there.

Definitely - if I had started listening to it with my eyes shut I would have thought it was Beck/Hammer.

Never been able to get into Fusion..... my favourite guitarists include Moore, Beck, Guthrie Govan etc and although I can appreciate the skill/musicianship involved with their Fusion material it just leaves me cold.

Bring on the Rock please   :guitar4:

As for Gary himself I prefer his blues ballads - I'm probably gonna get yelled at but to me Still Got The Blues is a brilliant song.

Yes, I was discussing G.M. some years ago with a workmate - and we both thought that Still Got The Blues  was his 'best' solo at the time. It is well structured, full of great technique, well paced and emotive / relevant to the song .

In a much more minimalistic way, his original 'Still In Love With You " solo on the Thin Lizzy 'Nightlife' album was an understated gem.  The ( now much more famous ) epic live version being of course  much more elaborate. On the  " Nightlife" original - it was just Gary, Brian Downey, and Phil Lynott /  Frankie Miller sharing vocals - a very good 'one guitar , two voices' rendering.   :)

Oops ! , Yes I see what you mean.  I was actually meant to be refering to the 'Back On The Streets' video further down the page - but erronously quoting references to 'Hurricaine' ...
