Thinking about buying BKPs Question is which?
« on: March 28, 2009, 06:23:01 PM »
Hi!
New user here, asking the same noobquestion: Which pickup to buy?

Sooo, I've got a Ibanez rg 1570. I changed those original pups quite fast, to a Dimarzio Breed(neck) and in the bridge to a tonezone. Now, some years later I'm thinking about switching that tz. I'm accusing it for hindering me finding toneheaven atm. It has some fizz in it that i'm not liking also it has that sound of a wahwah that's activated all the time.

I got some clips and songs on this soundclick, if you want some clues on what i'm looking for: http://www.soundclick.com/plankis

If someone even bothered to check it you probably noticed that I digg add9s and tritones... I don't really know what I'm looking for but one thing I is certain: I want chordclarity! That's very important to me.
Besides that i'm not so sure if I want a pickup with a tight low end or similar... Only thing I know is that the tz doesnt seem to be something for me.

I checked some of the clips here, unfortunately I only found one thread that did it in a more scientific way: http://www.bareknucklepickups.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=11927
The holydiver, nailbomb and painkiller were my favorites, Too bad it's neckpups and clean guitars.
So if someone want to do some clips with the bridgepickup-versions of those pups with the same amp and settings or link me to some clips i'd really appreciate it. :)

Welcome, n00b!

The first track on your soundclick makes me think painkiller.

maybe this won't help you much to understand how they sound like, but it's an effective comparison between various pickup models...
let me know if it helped you a bit!
Mule, MQ, Stockholm, CS, RY, MM, PK, ANB, CNB, AWP, CWP, PiG90...

too many? ;)
