Andy Summers

Been listening to some of his solo stuff and The Police. Bit of an obvious question but what is the effect he uses on the main riff in Message in a Bottle? Is it a phaser a chorus or something else?
I think I hate being indecisive.

:D The Electric Mistress is what Andy Summers used during the Police era for his chorus/phaser/flanger like effects - There is a page on the web that analyses his use of effects from old photos - he didn't use a chorus.

Wikipedia says this:

'The Electric Mistress Flanger was famously used by musician Andy Summers throughout his musical career, especially while he was/is in the band The Police. It's ethereal, spacious swirly sound is a key component in Summer's guitar tone, particularly songs such as Don't Stand so Close to Me, Walking on the Moon, Message in a Bottle and De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da.'

Its possible he is also using the chorus from the Roland JC120 on the studio version as well (which I think is the old Boss CE1 circuit).

Is that specific enough?  :D

I may well take a look at an Electric Mistress. My experience of EHX in the past has been that the pedals are very noisy. Maybe it was just a dodgy Double Muff.

Apologies all. Clearly I meant to say "Saucy little bulldog chewing a wasp". I have no attraction to this lady.

More of HOG I'd say...

Just hope she doesn't connect her White Finger and her Big Muff.

I think I better stop now.
