Guessing how BKP are going to sound....
« on: October 15, 2005, 07:40:45 PM »
Let me have a guess.... The pickup descriptions on the product page are not very clear. Nevertheless I can guess judging by the nameof the pickups.
Please let me know if these assumptions are right . This will make choosing BKP much easier task.

The Sultan's --> Knopfler's tone in the first DS albums / fifities strat sound
Mother's Milk --> Frusciante's tone. More 60's tone. Not much low end.
Slow Hand --> Clapton's tone. I guess more bass than the "milk" set
Irish Tour --> Gallagher's tone around 1973. Warm yer cutting.
Trilogy Suite --> The Swedish guy's tone. Not many mids. Low output.
Apache --> Marvin's tone. Similar to Knopfler's sound but darker.

Am I right??

The Pickups don't just do one tone; the names are there to give you a general idea of the tone, more era than artist.
The Trilogy suite is very high output; check the DC reading on the product page.
The slow hand has a more pronounced mid range.
The Apache is the tone of the 50's similar wind and exactly the same magnet's as fender used back then.

What kind of tone are you looking for?

Right.. I see I wasn't right then ... I guess it's risky naming PUs after artists or eras...
about tone I'm happy with my PUs now but friends keep asking me about replacement PUs so I wanted to know.
thanks anyway!!!

It's all on the product pages... the first few lines describe the sound, at the bottom is the DC resistance and the magnet types. There are also a few single coil sound clips in the players room.

Actually, I found the descriptions all kinda sounded the same to me too. The humbuckers are especially difficult for me to glean anything from, because I'm not familiar with all the artists/eras/whatever that they're referring to.

It's just as well there are clips and people to ask questions of.

It's all on its way.

In the mean time if you have any questions about our pickups you can post it on this forum, Email Tim or give us a call and we will give you all the help you need.

as for the web site, it will be towards the end of the year.

Thanks for the info. I didn't mean to be critical before. The people here provide better answers than a tone chart would, and Tim has responded to my emails promptly. It's just that if you don't get what the names of the pickups are referring to, then there isn't much other "official" product information to go on.

I didn't know this had come up before.
