I dont really like any of the other headstocks in the warmoth collection! Gold hardware is what ive been leaning towards also! im still debating about which BKP i should get or maybe some suhr pickups... i might get  for that statement...

Have you ordered yet? In the past I've seen them do a Suhr/Anderson type headstock.. I'm not sure if they do anymore but it's worth asking if you prefer that look.

They have the Warhead headstock:

It costs +US$45 as it's hand cut :?

Not sure about that suhr, but you should ask, there are some things they don't show on website (like this warhead), go figure...

:o  Oh, that looks good with the green sunburst and Warmoth logo!

(I wish they made Warmoth waterslide decals, I'd be quite happy to have a Warmoth logo rather than Fecker/Bitzer or whatever)
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds

That warhead headstock looks pretty good, I reckon that would go really nicely with the body (excellent looking body, by the way - good stuff!!!).

I don't think you'll get  for suggesting that it might not get BKPs, but I think a lot of us would put BKPs in it :) If something sounds great with its existing pickups, I'd consider leaving them in, but for a new build, I would always be looking to BK it :)

They send Warmoth decals with the necks.  Though all the ones I have had are black.  If you want one or two just drop me a PM).  The Fecker's say Partsocaster and the contoured body says 'bastarised' body.  Glen is a nice guy and told me one time he can pretty much make it with what you want (I have one with 'Frankencaster').

this is my flamed redwood/swamp ash with a maple/ebony neck.  It has a HD/Trilogy/Trilogy set in it.  Wilkinson bridge and Sperzel tuners.  There a a few other guitars with it!

you've positively got an alarming amount of stratocasters...
 :)

That isn't all of them  8)

Thanks Phil  :) .  I just received a Warmoth neck today, as it happens, since I made that last post!  So I saw the little black decal, but it looks to me like some kind of plastic/vinyl sticker, rather than a transfer?  But I'm probably being thick...

I'll get in touch with Glen and see what he's got.

are these warmoth builds easy and are the bits all quality?

I really feel like building a les paul style guitar. not sure how the bolt on neck would work out. but a contoured heel and maybe some recessed controls would be cool. Id design it specifically to have burnt chrome BKP's haha.

I've had lots of them and they have all been good.  One thing I have done with Les Pauls is bought the body with no neck route and then given it to a luthier to add a glued in neck.  I have one to pick up soon that has been made that way, it is an all mahogany body, 25.5" scale, wrap around bridge, LP Custom Inlay's and headstock, Gretsch Orange finish with a set of Emeralds.

id love to see a photo of that!

Id need to spend a while getting the exact spec down. but getting the body and neck how you say seems like an awesome plan. do you just send a big list of what you want to them, as far as no neck route and stuff goes. Ive been browsing the site for a while. i thought yoou could just pretty much design a guitar online and then order it, but it seems a bit more involved. cool though!

The top on the body posted by sebby is gorgeous!

I have considered Warmoth parts on a couple of occasions, but something else has fallen into my lap each time. However, a local luthier has an old absolutely lovely  ESP neck hanging on his wall. Strat style, all maple, birdseye. That and a quality body..

On the topic, the luthier has built something like 30 guitars from Warmoth parts, and they've all been good. He did say that he usually likes rosewood strat necks more (a personal preference of course), but prefers the maple boards on warmoth neck. He said something that their rosewood necks are sort of hi-fi, and prefers the 'aggression' (a bad translation here) of their maple board necks.

There's always the option of getting something which looks rosewoody but sounds more mapley, Warmoth have loads of different woods.  I just bought a maple neck with a pau ferro board - don't know what it sounds like yet though!

I have lots of different neck and fingerboard woods from Warmoth, Pau Ferro is what Fender use on the SRV models.  I have a guitar with a Kingwood fingerboard which is really nice, several Ebony, a couple of Bloodwood, a one piece aframosia and some rosewood too.

pau ferro should sound like ebony while looking like rosewood...
Mule, MQ, Stockholm, CS, RY, MM, PK, ANB, CNB, AWP, CWP, PiG90...

too many? ;)

If it does, that'll be cool... but I don't mind too much, I like the sound and look of maple, rosewood, ebony, whatever.  If it doesn't work on one body I'll try it on another.

I've just been looking at the different neck woods on the Warmoth site - I'd love to get a purpleheart neck for my purple sunburst Strat!  :D  God knows how much it would cost, though...
