Since all guitar realted projects are on hold for the forseeable future, something else had had space in my mind to start forming (and now I can't stop it). I've got £150 to spend on a new set of floorstanding speakers.
Unfortunately and much to the disgust of Mr's ToneMonkey (she said she could see it comming), I'm thinking that I could probably get better quality for the money if I made them myself. Maths combined with building stuff is right up my street being the sad git that I am, so it could be inevitable.
I've got two choices really, the first is build a pair of floorstanders which will be either Transmission line of Tapered Quarter Wave Pipe design. This is the most likely option as it's more staright forward. The second (off the wall) idea is a pair of small horns mounted in the corners of the walls and a sub for bass, kind of like the little bose cube speakers, but with a horn instead.
Has anyone built their own speakers or does anyone know of any good resources or examples for the second idea. I've been search around the net all day and have to get some work done at some point :(
