Here's my father's jazz/swing/blues band interpretation of Django Reinhardt's Minor Blues.
First track on :
http://www.myspace.com/canestraroIt's still in rough unmixed demo stage and will be featured on his new album.
Lead guitar is an AII Stormy Monday neck in an '82 LPC (maple neck/ebony board) into a Mesa Studio Caliber combo,
first channel, roughly flat (everything on 5) EQ settings, Drive on 2, a little bit of reverb, IIRC.
As my father is a long time Selmer-style guitar player with various rock/blues roots (all of his previous recordings was on a P90-mounted Selmer-style guitar into a Musicman amp), the goal here was to get a somewhat straight and dry electric sound with strong acoustics qualities.
It has been said before but i feel that for this type of sound, the SM add an almost 3rd dimensional quality that the previous Classic 57' who was in there could not provide. It's also VERY sensitive to pick attack nuances.
Hope you enjoy it !
ps : there's also a short youtube vid in there where you can hear the SM neck doing lead. he's the guy standing on the left.
