I have to second the alchemist hype. It is the best amp I have heard for its price. I was playing SRVs Little Wing in Guitar center and a couple people stopped by and listened and one dude who was looking at Mesa Boogies started getting into the Bogner
SRV's Little Wing :?  Jimi Hendrix wrote it, Stevie Ray while a great player is still doing a cover.

But if he was playing SRV's version, then it was "SRV's Little Wing". I'd have thought the whole point of putting SRV's was because he's aware it's a cover, otherwise he'd likely just write Little Wing without the players name.

Just seems an odd thing to bother to pull someone up on.  :?

I think (hope) he meant SRV's take on Little Wing.

that would be what I meant. It may be sacrilegious to say this but SRVs take on little wing is very different. I learned the Jimi version in a couple hours. I have never finished the SRV version. Its way too complicated

Ladies, Gentlemen, Pornstars:

Got to try the Alchemist for a few minutes last night. The shop only had a 1x12" combo; the head was dysfunctional (The rap on Line 6/Bogner production is that QC is not what it should be - is this a sign?)

I brought a 1969 Strat I had made that I think has graced this site once or twice. The hardtail sunburst, not the blue ice trem guitar. Tuned to Eb.

I also didn't get a chance to turn the amp up much, but what I heard was quite fat. A bit modern for my taste. None whatsoever of that bass kick I crave, but that may have been the lack of volume and the single V30 speaker. Surprisingly dark, considering the choice of (my not so favorite) speaker.

What I liked best was that the Alchemist offered a wide and seamless range of tones. The switches (bright, shift, etc.) seemed to affect the tone more than the eq, but that may have been again because I wasn't playing loud.

I deliberately didn't play with the reverb/DSP, as I wanted to hear the amp. If I liked the amp, any reverb would be icing on the cake.

Preliminary finding: definitely worth further investigation, especially a head and 2x12" cab, as it offers a G12M and a G12H, which is more what cats are after.
