mislabels specs on pickups?
« on: April 23, 2009, 07:39:21 PM »
i got 3 BKP bridge pickups in the last months, MiracleMan, Nailbomb and Warpig, all 7-string and ceramic magnet.

the thing is that i have ordered all with ceramic magnet but when they arrive the manual?, i mean the paper with the intructions and spec says its alnico v.

and all the time i got the same responce, "dont worry, it must be a typo, Tim mislabels things"

how can i be sure? its this a common thing?

why a respetable company mislabels importan info?

its disgusting not to be sure  :x

Its never happened to me (I've owned or handled more than 20Bks, as in each sperate pickup, probably closer to 30).

I very much doubt the pickup is wrong. If youre in doubt I'm sure they'd be happy to check it. (But if you cant hear a problem, whats the problem? Does it sound ceramic?)

It happened to me when I ordered a non-standard magnet.  Happens all the time apparently  :)

Nothing.

I think what bens trying to say is the pickup will be fine, its just the label.

yeah.  i think the issue is that custom pickups sometimes ship out in the same boxes with the same instructions as the standard models

if you ask for a C-pig you will get a warpig box and warpig instructions... but you asked for a C-pig so that will be in the box

have faith that the pickups are custom and made to order - but the label and instructions are not.

maybe next time BKP have some labels printed for the side of the box they can add magnet type to the tick boxes along with the 6 current options

it happens, it happened to me too, but pickups are ok.
if you had an alnico MM it would be a true rarity, i'd say...
Mule, MQ, Stockholm, CS, RY, MM, PK, ANB, CNB, AWP, CWP, PiG90...

too many? ;)

Uh, maybe I've just been lucky

i don't know... i think it happened just once... i ordered a mixed set of mules (A5 bridge, A4 neck), and the spec sheet claimed they were both A4... i asked Tim just for curiosity (well, they sounded good anyway, i'm not the kind of person that would send back something he likes just for a detail) and he told me that they were as i oredered and that sometimes who writes down the specs does it the way he's accustomed to, and so some error can happen with custom pickups...

don't really care, anyway.

Its for things like this that aftersales service is there, just ask! I am sure you will get a clear and curteous response and all doubts will be removed.

I agree; the after sales (and pre sales) service is one of the great things about this company.

If you want to be know for certain, I'm sure you could send them back and have them verified.

Also, forgive my ignorance, but if they're supposed to be ceramic as opposed to Alnico IV... can't you just install them in your guitar and listen to them?

You've got to remember that asking for different magnets in your pickups is a 'non-standard' option and as such they might not print the paperwork to go with it, but I'd be very surprised if BKP sent you the wrong pickup.
LOVING the Mules!
