New here! Amp Question!
« on: April 30, 2009, 05:58:11 AM »
Hi guys, i'm new here! I just got me a set of MM calibrated sets which was fitted to my RG470 to be my metal guitar. Absolute metal!! Now the question  8) I'm from Asia and will be going to the Rijswijk, Netherlands in June. I was thinking of getting a Brunetti 059. How does it cover metal music in terms of saturation. I would like to get some heavy tones ala Nightwish but also good for Petrucci's tone. Also, how is it in terms of reliability as it has to travel half way around the world to home, if anything goes wrong i'm basically screwed.

welcome. :)

I haven't tried the 059, but i was very impressed with the xlr-evo i tried. It could get pretty heavy, but was very versatile too.

I have heard, though, that the pirata wasn't that great (that's 100% hearsay, though), so I wouldn't like to say if the 059 might be good or not...

Other thing to make sure of is if there's any voltage difference... europe is 230 volts or so.

I don't know this amp, but I think a Powerball head from ENGL will be less expensive (don't know if you have tried one yet), and you wouldn't have to worry if your purpose is to cover metal and rock music with it. It's THE perfect Metal head, also very versatile and do good clean sounds..

cheers !

Thanks for the response guys. voltage in my country is the same as europe so no worries. I was thinking about the powerball too but wanted to try something different. XL-evo is on my to be considered list. Are these amps tight enuff for some rhythm work?

tight enough for me, but whether that's tight enough for you, i don't know. i play more 80s metal and hard rock, depends on what you consider to be metal.
