fenders s1 switch is a push button on the volume knob, must be a way to wire that as a kill switch... you are stuck with fender knobs though

http://www.fender.com/products/s1/
But I think it's still a push/push SWITCH rather than a button...
Yes it is a push-push switch because it stays "down" after being pressed.
Plus no way in hell I'm going to put a strat knob on my Iba S

You could give Legra Guitars a hollar and ask if they could make it for you, they deal with weird electronics all the time! http://www.legraguitars.co.uk
Yes but actually constructing a potmeter?

I'm getting around to e-mailing OMEG about building me a potmeter in a minute.

If they are willing, are there any other takers? (seeing as how 10 will be considerably cheaper than 3:))

Dude, I don't work there, I can't answer for them, but they are a quality shop who deal in guitar electronics as well.  Their main team consists of an electronic engineer and a mechanical engineer, which is why I recommend them for weird stuff like that.

Sorry, I realise I sounded somewhat.. rude. I simply meant that weird electronics basically is wiring the components in a particular (weird) way, this is really about constructing a component so I didn't  think they would be capable of doing that.

Depending on the reaction from Omeg I will give them a shout though. :D

erry my bad, I didn't mean to sound like an ass either, but yeah if your first source doesn't work they might have a decent shot

Today I read the Frankfurt review of current Guitarist, AND I COULDN'T BELIEVE MY EYES!!!!!

Page 74 - Shadow
"....Not neglecting electrics, there's a 500K log Kill Pot (approx. 20GBP) with push/push action for those machine-gun effects."

Ha! They thought of you before you did! And it's even a guitar stuff maker. So go, call Shadow, get one, and post clips and pics!!!

Wow that's great!! :D :D :D I don't really care who thought of it.. as long as it's there haha! :D
Thanks for the heads up!

Sorry I forgot to post back on the other source, but they could only make it with plastic surround and I'd need a convertor for the shaft etc etc.

So, I'll have to wait before I can get it around here in Holland. Shadow is based in Germany though so that shouldn't take that long :D But I do have to whine: the price, 20  GBP ?? That seems kind of high for just a pot+switch .. :(

Dude, this is a momentary switcher, what you talk about is a normal push/push pot that switches between two states permanently. This one only holds pos2 (kill) for as long as you touch it.

I accidentally found this image via a google-search:

It doesn't look as I expected. But it does look like they engineered it differently than the fragile push-push switches :)

I guess the 2 connections on the black baseplate are for the killswitch.

If you connect main out hot and ground here, you're done!

My initial thoughts were to use a push/pull pot and put a spring under the knob to force it back upwards.  That way you would just have to push it down to break the circuit and it would spring back automatically.

Not really thought about it much more than that though, but it may be worth a little experiment.

Hope it helps.
Advice worth what you just paid for it.

Well since Shadow is producing it, I'll just use that. I think putting a spring below a push-pull will make the knop too heavy to use fastly. But removing the latching mechanism of a push-push pot was my first thought.

Yes that seems logical, from experience with push-pull and push-push pots I expected a DPDT switch.. of course a switch specially for killing would just have 2 poles, connecting and disconnecting them.
