I like to put speakers in with T-bolts.  I think you get a better grip and there are less problems if you want to change them.  Other than that, just make sure they are tight

i got a couple of problemos ...

the hole is a bit big.. so now, the foam around the outer rim of the speaker fits tightly into the hole, on both speakers. i got no idea how i should mount them now cos the holes for the screws arent on the wood =/

will have to figure something out..

the 2nd part is that the grille doesnt fit =P they arent the ones i wanted but thought what the hell... (the mount thingies are separate and i wanted the whole thing in 1 piece

any thoughts on this?

here are a couple of pictures:

So the speaker hole is too big?? You could try and mount a second baffle with the correct hole size, and mount the inside the cab. It could be thin ply, just enough to support the speaker....can't think of another way!

Try and front load the Vintage 30's they sound much better than rear mounted. They have much more life and tone this way.I have two custom pine cabs that i have experimented with and have found front loading these speakers far superior.

cant front load them cos then i cant mount the grille anywhere =/ plus it would stick out a bit

it is pretty much my fault for not checking out stuff in depth beforehand.. but live and learn .. i know now for the next time

i'm thinking of getting 4 small metal plates with little 6mm 'bolts' sticking out in front and then screw those into the wood with 2 screws. i think it would work without much hassle, but it's aditional waiting for having them done =/

I made a frame for the front speaker cloth which sits in the rim around the speakers and has about 5 mm clearance, ill try and post some pics which may help. You could possibly bring the baffle back 1/2 inch to accomodate?

You could use T-Bolts and some angle pieces, and mount 4 of them both sides of the speaker.  This might hold them.  A better thing would be to get a new baffle cut to the right size.

true, that would be best, but cant get that

i'm gonna get 8 pieces of metal inserts that are welded on a square inch metal plate and then screw that down into the wood. i think it willl hold allright

yea.. it pretty much hold them down... properly.

i can lift the whole cab with one of the speakers now if i wanted to lol.

now i just need to put some foam into it and as ben told me, put a foam strip around the front baffle, then wire it up and hit it!

Davey,  I may have misunderstood your last post but if you check it out I think you'll find that Celestion do not recommend using wadding or foam inside the cab other than to seal the baffle or back..

Cheers.

no?

i was thinking of only puting it on the bottom and left or right side to rectify any sound reflection issues
