Come to London, there's loads to do. There are a some really horrible bits but lots of nice bits as you venture towards the south west.

I live in SW London, and my bit is still pretty horrible.

Mind you, Wimbledon's SW too and I wouldn't mind living there, very nice!

Lovely place. Richmond, Putney there nice places. Good pubs, lovely women...ahh if only!

As far as SW London is concerned, I lived in Tooting/Colliers Wood, Wimbledon Park (Yum!) and Wandsworth and never had any trouble at all. In fact other than some drunk bloke trying to start something by deliberately ramming into me on Charing Cross road I have never had any experience of violence there, and that includes going to Walthamstow to visit my mate.

Lancashire on the other hand, now there's a dodgy place. :|

Wandsworth borough is supposedly the safest borough in London, that's what the estate agent said to me, but I don't know if that's just a sales ploy :P

I'm seriously considering London. but it looks like the typical it's alright, except the rough bits, which are everywhere. Man this it hard, but I really can't wait to sort out a job, load up my little yaris and head south.

As much as I slag London, I've pals in Bishops Stortford and I reallyquite like it there, dunno if it really counts as London, but it's within commuting distance, so it kinda is, right?

I just hate the "I'm in a hurry and as such have no time for manners" vibe of the centre.

It's about 30 minutes down the M11 if you put your toe down. It is a nice place but it is next door to Stanstead Airport, but that can be a good thing. Hertfordshire and North Essex are lovely parts of the south east.

London can make you in a hurry a lot of the time, if you let it. Some do, some don't...so much! Paul Weller made good use of this observation in the Jam song Strange Town. The thing is once you start a life here it can be like that and you won't even notice after a while. It is a good place to live though, loads to do.

I can recommend the north-east.  We tend to get on better with you northern folk better than we do with those southern folk :)  I live in Durham.  That's got lots of villages & towns dotted around the county & (from where I live in north Durham) it's only about 25mins to Newcastle or Sunderland.
+1 for the north east

That beautifull beaches you saw (taking out Rio de Janeiro and perhaps more 3 or 4) don't have decent jobs... also travelling there isn't as cheap as you would think to us... And I hate hot wheater :? My city is half time gray and most time hot ¬¬

London is amazing... But I must admit its not for everyone.

Wouldn't worry about your Scottish accent. Scottish can be one of the most understandable accents I think.

The problem with London is that if you're a humble public servant then accomodation is going to eat the bulk of your income.
