One of the bands opening for Coheed last week had 2 guitarists playing Krank heads.  I have no idea what they were, but they looked slightly 'undersized', like the old Rivera heads.

They were a terrible band and it definitely didn't put a good taste in my mouth re: Krank amps.

Lesson: Unless you play thru one yourself for a real evaluation (we all have different criteria for this), it's a lot of judging-a-book-by-it's-cover'ing.

Personally, I wouldn't want one based purely on the name. PDT_008

But I've never played one with one of my guitars.

Re: Wilton. He barely plays leads so it's hard to tell based off of the new 'ryche album. I look forward to hearing what it will sound like live, tho, with a GOOD PLAYER thru a GOOD PA. :) (ie, Wilton)

I actually quite like Krank heads! Tried a few out when i was trying out new high gain heads when i went to Sounds Great.

Also, one of my favourite bands, Strung Out use them live and in the studio, and they sound fantastic  :D
SG-X/Over wound Rebel Yell
Blue SG 61 Reissue/Cold Sweat
Egnater Mod 50
Matamp 4x12

Not tried Krank's myself, but Andy Sneap used them Nevermore's This Godless Endeavour (two tracks of Krank and two tracks of Mesa per song apparently) album he produced, and the guitars on that record sound awesome.

If they're good enough for both Sneap and Loomis I think they must be doing something right...  ;)

I love Queensryche.

Right.
once again. I'm not sh*t talking. I'm expressing opinion which is my own, and what was given to me by one musician friend. If i was saying Kranks are awesome you wouldn't care.

I know the endorsement deal involves artist pricing. I remember asking what people weere paying for those amps and it was still like getting a new high end amp because of the import duty added to the cost. At the time people where buying them they didnt have such good distro in the UK. I hadn't seen any in stores id been in. So i dunno where these dudes where trying them before buying them with artist pricing. Maybe they were just getting them direct from Krank.

When i say a bunch i mean maybe 3 or 4 (defo not more than 10! haha) I know the requirements to be endorsed but the website where you have that quote from has changed a lot since all this was going on. I actually remember at the time thinking "they are giving out deals like candy!" because although the bands they gave amps to did/do tour a lot, they weren't all the best bands. point is, they played a lot of shows. so to get the amp's out there this was a good move on Krank's part. got people raving about how they had endorsement deals, and other people went hunting for their own from Krank and other companies.

yo. the Krankenstein i heard was being shared by about 6 bands at an all dayer. nobody made it sound awesome. no more awesome than any other amp anybody used is all im saying.

I don't remember which heads everyone had exactly, and non of the people using them are my friends.

what i said about them 'cutting through' just came from my friend when we had a discussion about Kranks. Again someones opinion, take it or leave it.

I haven't said anything bad about anyone at Krank, or about their support. so chill out on that one.

Dude, i dont know you, i don't hate you. I dont know why you are getting so annoyed by what im saying. I dont know NFE either and he's said the same thing about one of my points. Like i said, i assume me and NFE are talking about the same bands.

Its fact that some bands here were getting endorsement deals, and then they sold their amps. The rest is opinion, my opinion and 1 close friend of mine's opinion. If you want to kick your toys out the pram about what i've said then thats fine by me, but i don't see how its worth it. you want to defend your friends company i guess.

Yo, at least i didnt say "Krank posted up a bunch of fake reviews of their own amps on harmony central" hahaha.
now i AM just trying to wind you up. haha. i dont care about that and i read some dude got fired for unethical buisness practice. thats old news though. only just read about it mind!

blah de blah

Well. The real issue is, your slander is absolutely false and has nothing to do with Krank amps.
It is me. You so despise me that you are determined to come into any thread I post and give me cr@p. It’s a shame really, because the Krank crew is a great bunch of guys, the best customer service ever.

Oh sweet irony, I do adore thee!

Firstly, Copperhead - stop throwing your dolly out the pram if TWO people on a small internet forum DON'T like your friends amp company. It's just plain childish. I can understand that you'd be offended but by trying to say that they hate you and have been slanderous is complete BS IMHO. Stop being a big girl and MAN UP!

Secondly, while I have never tried a Krank from reading their product guides etc I wouldn't even consider trying one, sounds like they go for the American High Gain sound (I'm a fan of British 'oh-my-jebus-c--king-christ-my-amp-might-blow-up!' sound).

I was waiting for an Andy Sneap related post!!!

when I first found the Sneap forum by accident I remember seeing some posts of people saying they couldn't get the sound they wanted out of a Krank and that Andy did magic on them or something along those lines, the Mesa's won't have stock tubes, if I remember correctly Andy could never dial in a tone he liked with Mesa's stock tubes

i could never dial a tone i was 100% happy with using my dual rec, till i changed all the preamp tubes and the power tubes. I use JJ gold pin 12AX7's in V1 and the PI and standard JJ 12AX7's in the rest. I also use JJ EL34's in it.

I tried 6L6, 6V6 and KT88. EL34 where my faves, with 6V6 second.

kinda of off topic but i just thought id add that.
