I think less is more when it comes to amps.
hence why i like my avenger. single channel, no loop, in and out.
a good 2 channel amp would be fine. i was thinking splawn but im not so sure really.

Do you need the second channel or the loop?

Otherwise I'm not sure it's gonna get much better than your Soldano - at least I was all over the Avenger when I tried it once.

An Ueber is way cool though, I have to admit :O)

What about some other options, like a Diamond Nitrox?

I have been interested in the Diamond amps. there is a place in london that has a spec op and maybe a phantom.
I've not tried either but i think they were VERY pricey. probably because they are for sale in central london.

the soldano is awesome. I'd just like something could do cleans maybe, that isnt as 'tricked out' as my dual rec. Does that make sense? maybe im just getting a taste for something new, i want that excitement of getting a new amp :S

FWIW I dont like them. Too dark, flubby and muddy. They also sound cr@p at low volumes. I like them with an OD infront, but still not as much as other amps.

The VH4 is all the heaviness the uber is cabpable of and far more, but with clarity. Lots of clarity. Very dry though, dont know if thats your thing.

The nitro is reportedly the same sort of deal as an uber, but "better" (I havent seen much elaboration on that - I plan to try one out).

If you like a darker high gain sound, VHT or gayette or whatever they are now are very good. SigX and deliverance are good starting points (the latter especially if you like simple amps).

thats one concern, how dark its meant to be. ive read people saying they run the uber with the bass knob all the way down. seems a bit silly to me to have to do that.

Its not so much the magnitude of the lows, which isnt as extreme as its reputation might suggest, but the voicing (again with the VH4 - it has if anything more, but its hard to make it sound muddy, where I found it hard to make the uber sound clear). It has no control over the lows, they just blubber about the place, and the bass is bass, low mids and some mids. The controls are a bit odd in that the presence is a mid sweep control, mids are mids and treble is treble. However, that means lacking a real presence you cant dial in the clarity that so many of its settings lack. The treble is really dull as well, to my ears.

The ubercab on the other hand is a force of nature. Love that thing; my powerball shines through it. Even better with k100s instead of t75s.

Oh, small disclaimer - my play time on the uber was with my Legra MDV602 when it had a C-Pig in the bridge, and tuned to drop B. So the guitar was hardly shy on low end, but on the same day with the same cab in the same place in the same room the VHTs and powerball sounded great - heavy as $%&# AND clear.

hmmm
i would like the clearness.
the newer uber has a master bass control which sounds like it might remedy some of the mud.

wonder if there is an uber in london...
my marshall cab is kind of a faux ubercab. doesnt have K100's though.

What about a Splawn Nitro? In fact any Splawn really as I can get downtuned mayhem tones with my Competition.

ive emailed Scott a couple of times in the past, like when i was going to give up on Soldano, and I sent some questions recently about the "mk2" quickrod and it looks like i've been completely ignored. not a big deal, but it doesnt make me want to use his stuff. the Nitro or Super Comp is something i've thought about.

in a totally comedy fashion, the fact rich ward uses splawn puts me off a lot, and the i hear scott puts bible versus in the amps. I cant play an amp with a bible verse in it. haha
