Seeking advice on Metal Pickups
« on: June 08, 2009, 05:59:30 AM »
Hey Metalheads,

I'm thinking about switching my metal guitar (single cutaway mahogany body/neck,)around that currently has a nailbomb in the bridge.

I love the lows I get on this guitar with the nailbomb but I want more sizzle, and just MORE.  Harmonics, squeals, chugs, shred.  I listen to a lot of extreme metal.  Death/Black/Whatever.

I was thinking Painkiller, but not sure what would go best with mahogany.

Thanks in advice.

Actually....take down the date and time, chalk it up, commit it to memory, write it in your calander

Yeah, C-pig.

Dunno why I didnt think of that. I saw "sizzle" and though "MM", but yeah, the C-Pig is great for all the above. Perfect in fact.

Cool!  I wasn't sure what the mahogany would do with these pickups.

I have a set of painkillers in a solid mahogany bodied Ibanez RG and they are simply superb - you can grunt, squeel and sizzle till the  err  pigs come home  8) - thats with a bolt on maple neck/rosewood board and fixed bridge.
CERAMIC NAILBOMBS + Ibanez RGT42DX and PAINKILLERS + Ibanez RG321MH and A5 NAILBOMBS + Ibanez RG1550

Thanks for the info men!

Can you guys compared what these pickups would be to a nailbomb?  I have used this quite a while and I really enjoy its sound and articulation.

If Eric and MDV agreed, then you have one solid advice..  :good:

But, well I would like to ask :

Hey Metalheads,
I love the lows I get on this guitar with the nailbomb

but I want more sizzle,

and just MORE.  Harmonics, squeals, chugs, shred

I listen to a lot of extreme metal.  Death/Black/Whatever.

= Why not a painkiller this mahogany guitar ?

This is not a recommendation, I am just asking......'cause I thought your first idea of getting PK wasn't a bad call for you.

And welcome  8)
