I don't really like Strats, but....

I REALLY like that strat - cheers Dave! I was watching the new guitarist DVD yesterday and the minute Mick Taylor started playing the 62 reissue I had strat GAS - especially for a white one. I calmed it down by playing my strat for a few hours and then read this thread. Strat GAS is now back again!

In the same Magazine I was more looking at the Dave Murray model  :crazy2:

The Dave Murray model looks a pretty good strat.
If I got one though, I'd have to do something about the 3 way switch. Seems an odd choice, not having at least a 5 way switch or coil taps

I had exactly the same thought. I'm not qualified to argue with Dave Murray but it seems like a very odd choice! I also think uncovered bridge humbuckers look best on strats - not a fan of the neck HB (although neck HBs look great on teles!0

Oooh, I'm no superstrat fan as you all know, but those look pretty fantastic actually, especially the rosewood (or ebony?) board version.


(But to be super-pedantic.... why the 10-screw scratchplate?  You're part of the Fender group now, might as well follow convention.)

I think it was ebony in the review. Not sure I want another Floyd Guitar, now I'd like a non-locking super strat I think.

Counting the screws on scratch plates is pretty mental methinks Philly :O)

Yeah, it's just the top one.  Which makes me wonder if maybe those are photoshopped mock-ups rather than real pics.  They seem to do that quite often to get a "perfect" looking guitar.

these are not mock-ups, just well shot photos...
i wish i had such a good lighting instead of being forced to shot with low natural light to achieve that effect...

I know! I keep thinking that you could get a car for that price, that the finish stripping  looks rough, and it probably doesn't sound that good really. But...the pictures!!
