well, we discussed that once before jonothan... and as we agreed at the uli/scorpions concert at Hammersmith recently Jabs wasted Michael and Uli easily!
I think for some reason Jabs has never quite got over the "stand-in" tag, just because he replaced not one but
two absolute legends in Scorpions. Even when he first joined they shoved him aside to make room for Michael to come back. And he's never written very much (until recently) which made him seem like just a sideman.
And somehow as a result of all that, I think we forget how good he is, so it always comes as a bit of a surprise!
On the live front he comes into his own. He's always thoroughly professional and not off his face on drink or drugs - whereas Michael has at least a 50% chance of not even knowing what planet he's on that day. And Uli, for different reasons, is also very much in his own little world.
The same thing happened to Tonka Chapman in UFO (the being overshadowed bit - he can probably outdo Michael in the constantly-ratarsed stakes!). Great guitarist, totally under-appreciated.
