NAD
« on: June 13, 2009, 10:21:10 PM »
Pulled the trigger.
spoke to guitarguitar in glasgow about the deal with returning it if i hated it.
i love it! its not as dark or as full of low end as i expected. it did take me a while to get it EQ'd.
the presence/mid control interaction is defo a weird one.
the clean channel is awesome and it switches silently.

nice!
time to sell some stuff to pay for it!!

awesome. I haven't been able to try the ueberschall, but I really liked the shiva, and especially the ecstacy, when i tried them.

I thought Tremonti only started using them on blackbird and used road kings and his old 2 channel dual rec on one day remains but im probably wrong. the uberschall does sound awesome on whiteknuckles though. I so badly want one I might have to be done once ive finished paying off my overdraft from my prs.

Aye, he definitely used it on Metallingus, certain I read it somewhere or maybe it was in one of the videos where he shoes his gear. Definitely sounds different, anywho.

I'd love to try one... sounds immense.

its pretty awesome. i actually haven't played it much with working all hours and tinkering with my JCM800.
it's pretty awesome. Glad i have a good clean channel amp to play with. the Avenger is still amp number 1.

Hopefully i can raise some cash back after i sell that lonestar 2x12 combo.

this is an awesome amp. i love the 3 postition power/standby/play switch! and you can get as solo boost using the FX loop send level and the fx loop bypass switch.

I much prefer it to the dual rec, on which i only used the red and green channels really. the headroom on the Uber clean channel is totally bonkers! i play with the MV down and the clean channel volume & gain maxed out and i only got a slight bit of break up using my Rebel Yell les paul custom.

The thing with the Presence on the Ueber is really very special. It acts almost like a mid frequency sweep rather than classical presence. At least on its Axe model I prefer it pretty high so it accenuates upper mids and brings it in classic rock territorry.

Where is your bass set at when the amp is turned up? Pretty low I assume? Bogners are very interactive with master volume settings, so don't expect to turn it up for gig volume and still use the same settings as at home levels.

On my Shiva it also makes a huge difference how the ratio of channel colume and master volume is set. High channel volumes and low master make it very tight, more open and highly dynamic, with channel volume down and master up, it's smoother and a bit more compressed.

I'm sure you're having fun! What cab/speakers are you playing through? The Orange 1960 with 12T75 and V30 mix? That would be pretty ideal as it's the same mix as in the Ueber Cab.

yeah man im using that cab, its COOL.

at the moment, on the high gain channel im using...
master volume 3 o'clock
channel volume 1 o'clock
presence 11 o'clock
treble 3 o'clock
mid 2 o'clock
bass 1 o'clock
gain 2 o'clock

i think thats about right. Im trying to remember as im not in front of my amp.

i looked up some setting online and what other people suggest seem to be different to what im using.
i agree it'll probably sound way different when i get it louder.
