Had a fantastic jam yesterday
« on: June 22, 2009, 01:57:50 PM »
Me and another guitarist/singer, a sax player, a great drummer and bass player. Its such a good buzz when it all works well. I lent the other guitar player my strat with Irish Tours and he was very impressed with the sounds he was getting. I played my Feline Lion through a Telenordia compressor into my Koch clean or with a little gain for some leads.

Awesome!

Tell me more about that compressor! Did you use it for clean tone only?

Are you mainly keeping your Koch clean playing with these guys?

You could try plugging through a small dirtbox first like a tubescreamer it things are feeling too loose.

It's a bit early to say Steve but we all really enjoyed it and are keen to jam again. We all have different tastes in music but are just playing for the sake of playing. It all seems open minded for ideas so a few rock tunes may come too. The other guitarist/singer does some kind of musical teaching for work and did a great job of arranging. He had a few lyrics and chords for a few songs that we worked on.
Then we did a huge jam around James Brown's The Chicken which was fun.
Yes Ben I used the compressor on clean and dialed a funky sounding clean tone in with the mids backed off, used the neck pickup mostly. I kept the compressor on for a few leads with a small amount of gain.

No dirtbox needed Dave as my Koch is filthy enough as it is!

This project is still going each week. We've been rehearsing 4 hours a weeks since June and its tight as a Nuns arse now! Its a mixture of some of the singers own tunes which are pretty good and some old funk tunes at the moment. I've been using my Midi guitar in some parts putting a rich Hammond organ under some of the guitars and Sax. Plus a Sitar sound on another! Mostly just putting lots of clean funky chords sometimes hitting the wah for a few bars, then letting rip with some solos. The rest of the band are really good musicians. I'm loving it so much!
