The best MXR EQ Pedal?
« on: June 25, 2009, 12:55:08 PM »
I know this has been discussed before but which is the best EQ pedal and why? :)

Thinking of buying one but don't believe in youtube demos, other rubbish forums informing me which is best!

Thanks :P

ps I forgot to ask is it best to have it in your effects loop or in between guitar & amp?

With a serial loop, I'd stick it in the loop; with a parallel loop I'd probably use it infront of the preamp. I don't really know enough about the different models to recommend one, though, sorry.

I've used the boss EQ20 and the MXR KK (just the 10 band with two outputs and silly graphics). The EQ20 has an innate sound where it adds thickness but takes definition out of the low end, and smooths the highs a lot. The MXR is transparent but noisy. I've stuck with the MXR. I think the noise may be because I'm using an underpowered transformer for it - its a 'godlyke' somethingorother, but its rated at 9V and the pedal wants 18. Dunno if thats anything to do with it, but it works fine.
