Bridge pup for alder strat
« on: July 05, 2009, 08:12:38 PM »
G'day gentlemen (and ladies),

I became aware of BKP through one of the guys on the projectguitar forums.

I have a "mutt" Strat that  for which I am searching for a bridge pickup.

Strat specs:

Body: Alder
Neck wood: Maple
Fingerboard: Rosewood

The guys and I that I am currently playing with are somewhat stuck between the genres of music into which we would like our future tunes to be "categorized" in. It goes back and forth between 80's hair stuff and 80's thrash/groove/ozzy stuff. I love to play in the likes of Reb Beach, George Lynch, and early Satch. However, I/we really love playing No More tears era Ozzy, earlier Metallica, and definitely Pantera (but nothing like Cannibal Corpse or stuff like that).

So basically, I am wondering if BKP can offer me somehting with the best of those two worlds. Personally I don't really wanna touch anything ceramic...seem to get muddy when the volume rolls down. I like how Alnico's sound (although II' are my fav.).

The strat is already bright, with the alder and maple neck, so obviously I need something thats gonna accent that, not make it piercingly (and horrendously) bright.

Oh, and I'm currently playing through a Behringer 212 combo, but will be upgrading (hopefully shortly) to a Carvin Legacy series or a Marshall JCM800 2203, both modded with 6550 power tubes..

I'm in a similar situation as you (gear but not as heavy music), and I'm pairing a bridge humbucker with 2 Slowhands.

Tim recommended the Holy Diver to me.

I have the Holy Diver in exactly the same setup and it is an absolute beast.

Would do what you described and more.
