Hey guys.

I'm seriously thinking about buying a looper pedal in-order to bypass my FX pedals when I'm not using them.

The main 1's I'm looking at are:

Monkey FX Badger Baiter - http://www.monkeyfx.co.uk/routers.html

Loooper 1 Loop - http://www.loooper.com/

Robert Keeley Looper - http://www.robertkeeley.com/product.php?id=23

Has anyone here tried any of these pedals? If so, what did you think? Any pros/cons etc?

If I decided to got for the Keeley, where would I buy 1 from in the UK and how much would it be? The only info I can find on those is on the US website.

I know Tim and HJM are fans of the Keeley :)

Hi Brow, about 6 months ago I got in touch with Keeley UK about whether or not their BOSS pedals had true bypass...obviously they don't, but the sales guy informed me that they do stock the looper in the UK, even though it isnt on the website. He said you just need to get in touch and I guess you could order it over the phone. I think the price was somewhere around £30?

However, recently I have been trying to get in touch with Keeley UK about whether or not they stock the Ibanez AD9, but they haven't responded to any of my emails. I don't know if they are still operational now, whether there actually is a 'Keeley UK'...

Hi Willo, thanx for the reply :)

If possible, I'd like to get the Keeley because it's the smallest of the 3 units I'm looking at and would take up least space on my pedalboard :)

There's astill a Keeley UK website, but the Looper isn't mentioned on there at all.

I might give them a ring and enquire :)

Keeley UK have gone very quiet, no idea what's happening there.....try emailing Keeley USA perhaps.

The Loooper stuff is excellent, although they can look a little bit like they were knocked up in a shed......the Keeleys are a bit more pro looking!

I just gave them a call and had a chat with a guy about the Looper.

He says they do stock the Looper, it's £45 but they're out of stock of them at the moment.

Of the 3 I mentioned above, the Keeley is the slightly mroe expensive 1 at £45, but it's also the smallest sized pedal of the 3 and would take up less space on my pedalboard :?

These are prices I have for the 3 loopers I'm considering:

Monkey FX Badger Baiter - £42 shipped

Loooper 1 Loop - £35 for an un-finished pedal + £1 for a battery clip and + £1 for rubber feet = £37

The Keeley Looper is £45 from Keeley UK, but about £60 from everywhere else.

So there's not much in it price wise really

The Keeley doesnt need batteries though, does it?

I thought it only used them for the LED...so if its passive then you'll be reducing any chance of noise, and i like MonkeyFX's stuff, but their pedals are a bit chunky. Personally, I wouldnt want to use that much pedalboard space on a looper.

From what I undertstand, the Keeley only needs power (Battery or Mains Power) to power the 2 status LEDs. Although, I'd sooner have the LEDs on to be honest, so I know exactly what's happening :)

I've heard about the Analog Man Looper, but don't really want to ship it from the US. Thanx for the suggestion tho :)

Can't fit a battery in the Keeley..too small....

Loopers are easy to make, but unless you've got an acount with Farnell you'll fork out £20 in parts....

I'm going to keep my eye out for a Keeley dealer, but if I can't find 1 then I think I'm going to go for Monkey FX Badger Baiter. As alot of the other companies I've found that make these pedals are all based in the US! :lol:

A fair point - for a while I was using these big extruded aluminium enclosures. I now make the BadgerBaiters in standard MXR Phase90 sized cases, with all the jacks on one side so they take up very little pedalboard space now. The Keeley is a smaller unit but because the jacks go out on 3 sides it takes up quite a bit of space once it's cabled in. Beautifully made though.

I need to update the pictures on the website - this is the current BadgerBaiter (though I can adjust the layout as required):

That new Badger Baiter looks cool :D

I emailled you a few weeks ago as regards a 2 loop Badger Baiter, so it's on my list of things to buy once I have some spare cash :roll:

A fair point - for a while I was using these big extruded aluminium enclosures. I now make the BadgerBaiters in standard MXR Phase90 sized cases, with all the jacks on one side so they take up very little pedalboard space now. Phase 90 boxes are much smaller! I like your stuff, Andi, I've been interested in checking out a MonkeyFuzzle for a while, but I'm getting pretty broke now :( Such is life!

Thanks chaps. All the new pedals come in that style of enclosure (some a bit larger), though I can do the older ones on request. It's also worth emailing to see if I have any scratch/dent pedals which get a bit knocked off the price.

My apologies, by the way, for the pimping of my wares - I'll keep it to a minimum, honest!
