Not to hijack this thread, but I just couldn't let this one slip by unnoticed (or bother firing up a new thread). If you're easily scared or have a faint heart then do not, I repeat, do not follow the link below. You'll find a true abbomination.

sorry
i meant philippe dubreuille

I think that looks.... OK.  It's obviously a nicely made guitar, but he should have tried to give it a few more Firebird features than just the headstock.  Ditch the binding and sunburst, add a Maestro and a raised centre section on the body, maybe?

I tried to find a decent picture of Dave Mustaine's korina Jackson V online but had no luck, so here's the other guitar I've had intense feelings of awe and worship for ever since I saw it:

Incidentally, I know I'm wrong and terrible but that Les Paul with Explorer headstock really works for me. In fact, Explorer headstocks on everything!

it will have been done for weight - that body is mahoosive.   and it basically measn they drilled random holes before putting the top on, not that there is anything wrong with that, but lets call a spade a spade

They're superb - a twangy, low output humbucker that stays nice and clear as you wind the gain on.

im just quoting what ive read, or thereabouts. i dont really understand the science of designing guitars around cavities for sound... does that make sense? i mean, whats the process of design when wanting to make a cavity that actually does something tonally? size, shape, amount, and location must all be considerations right?

also, i almost bought the firebird necked les paul, but i decided getting a hard case for it would be a nightmare!

I was reading about the Minarik models in the Guitar World Buyer's Guide last week.  They say the Manta's body is "a beehive of chambers, tuned to make the largest tonal rainbow imaginable".  And on the Inferno model, "each individual flame tongue is designed to produce a certain frequency response".

I take it all with a very large pinch of salt, but their guitars look like fine pieces of workmanship (and imagination), if nothing else.

The one which really made me laugh is the Trinity, which has "the unique honour of being the only guitar in the world featuring quadruple-cutaway construction".  Yeah, why did no-one think of that before, the crazy fools?

Man I love that body the pick guard is terrific looking. Who makes this guitar? I want to find out where I can get a pick guard like that. The headstock just totally ruins for me I like the rest of what I see though I think its well designed.
