The Mercury certainly isn't a popularity contest - this year's winner (who may be excellent, for all I know) had only sold 3,000 albums before winning it.

Well, don't know nothing about the Mercury Music Prize, or who has won it this year (I tell a lie, I did know the 3000 albums statistic, but don't know who it is though or even what genre they might be), BUT this thread, in my book, is worth it alone for Shobet's words of wisdom :lol:
