well really, i'm going for kinda like fell silent/periphery/after the burial/architects type sound.  if that helps lol.

i know architects has my same set up, even same guitar and pick up's, but i can't seemt o get the sound they do.  i've been playin guitar for a long time, but this is really 1 of the first times i've tried to focus my sound.

i usually tune to G,C,G,C,F,A,D   for some songs i tune G,D,G,C,F,A,D, any more info ya need? lol

For Tech stuff, and since you have an Alder bodied guitar. I would think Tim would suggest Painkillers. I use them in Basswood and its close enough to Tech tones but Alder would be even better as Basswood is pretty neutral.

Thats low tuning.

Anyway, painkillers are a better choice in light of that, yes. Ceramic nailbombs better still.

Yeah I guess the ceramic Nailbomb would work too, read into it Wade, MDV posted a thread not too long ago on it.

Back to MDV, Ceramic Nailbomb for just the bridge, or.. a set?

I couldnt comment on the neck. Never tried a CNB neck. But the necks really irrelevent to those sounds.

What do you want from the neck, Mr OP?

well i hardly ever use the bridge pick up. so i guess just neck.  also sikth's guitar sound is another i wouldn't mind sounding like.  they sometimes tune down to double G#.  so nailbomb ? i was looking on ordering it off of http://www.bareknucklepickups.co.uk/shop/product_info.php?cPath=65&products_id=182
but there is no 'ceramic' option lol

i'm lookin for the tight tech sound, but i really like the sound of the chugging djent riffs with all the bands i've listed.

if you want to check what style i play, it's www.myspace.com/annextheory   dont' judge that sound, it's direct in, and not through my amp. lol.. we recording just quickly, just as a demo.  it's the live sound i really want mint as hell.

thanks for the help so far guys

*edit : what's the difference between 4 conductor and 2 braided ?   i'm sure it's a no0b question. but still :P

If you are using the middle pickup (the sc607b only has middle or bridge) that might be why your having problems with your sound when i had a 607 the middle pickup muddied up alot with the gain up (its good for low gain and cleans tho).

also depending what year your guitar was made it could be made from mahogany or maple as they only started making them from alder this year iirc they were mahogany for two or three years before that and maple before the mahogany. (Im a bit of a step carpenter gear nut)

But as MDV said I reackon a Ceramic Nailbomb for the bridge and possibly a painkiller bridge or A5 nailbomb bridge pickup for the middle. for a bit of versatility and better cleans.

You will have to get the guitar rewired aswell as the EMG circuitry wont work with the BKP's.

and Get 4 conductor wiring as it gives you the option to have either coil splits or parallel switching for a wider range of tones.

I would say Warpigs with a ceramic bridge. I just had that alder Jackson for a short time and the Pigs were absolutely brutal in that thing. I was tuned to B.

looking around apparently there are a few types of nailbombs you can buy.   can anybody direct me to a decent ordering site ?  or perhaps i'm blind and can't find the 'ceramic' option on this site.

I just went through the order page and you're right, there's no option to specify ceramic magnets for the 7-string pickups. May be easier to give BKP a call, I don't think many online suppliers will stock what you want.

I might suggest that not using the bridge pickup is probably where you might be missing out on that "djent" tone that is so commonly used by the bands you listed. Painkiller at the Bridge would probably be the nest bet as I've researched it pretty thoroughly now, wanting the same kind of tone myself. I believe actually a few people from here who do that kind of music use the Painkiller over most other choices.

Having said all that, I've not tried it myself yet. it's just the PK seems to be the weapon of choice for people who are already playing tech / djent stuff.
